Case IH 2652 (160.02) - DEC – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) or Vehicle ECU: Hydro Out Speed Sensor No Signal - Data erratic; no signal
Issue description
The control module is not receiving a valid, readable signal from the hydrostatic output speed sensor (data is erratic or completely missing).
Applies to these machines
2 machines- VESTRUM CVX
- Case Vestrum CVX
Check the cause
Perform a complete key cycle (OFF/ON) to see if the sensor stall carries over or resets
Check the wiring harness leading to the Hydro Out Speed Sensor for chafing, bare wires, or moisture
Disconnect the sensor and inspect the pins for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or poor terminal tension
Ensure the sensor is securely mounted and that the air gap between the sensor and the tone ring/gear is correct
Repair steps
Power down
Power down the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits.
Locate sensor
Locate the Hydro Out Speed Sensor on the hydrostatic drive unit or transmission housing.
Clean area
Clean the area around the sensor to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic/transmission system.
Disconnect harness
Disconnect the electrical harness connector.
Remove sensor
Remove the retaining bolt(s) and carefully pull the sensor straight out of the housing.
Lubricate O-ring
Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor with clean hydraulic/transmission fluid.
Install sensor
Insert the new sensor, install the retaining bolt, and torque to OEM specifications.
Reconnect and clear codes
Reconnect the electrical harness, reconnect the battery, and clear the fault codes using an EST (Electronic Service Tool).
Parts you might need
(1)Hydro Out Speed Sensor
When ordering, you must provide your machine's exact PIN/Serial Number to the Case IH parts desk, as speed sensors vary heavily depending on whether the machine is a combine, a CVT tractor, or a hydrostatic crawler.
