Case IH 2655-00 - BCM – Body Control Module (BCM): Headlamp Low Beam Right #1 - too many loads or faulty load

The control module has detected an abnormal electrical current draw on the right low beam circuit. This is typically caused by a burnt-out bulb (open circuit/current below normal), a short to ground (current above normal), damaged wiring, or the installation of an incorrect aftermarket bulb that draws a different wattage than the system expects.

   Visual Bulb Inspection: Check the right front low beam headlamp bulb for a broken filament, shattered glass, or dark discoloration.

   Wiring and Connector Check: Inspect the wiring harness and the pigtail connector leading to the right headlamp. Look for melted plastic, corroded pins, or chafed wires that could cause a short to ground.

   Wattage Verification: If the bulb was recently replaced, verify that it is the correct OEM wattage (e.g., 55W or 37.5W depending on the model).

   Circuit Testing: Use a multimeter to test for continuity between the BCM output pin and the headlamp connector, and ensure the circuit is not shorted to the chassis ground.

   Turn off the machine's ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the right front headlamp assembly (grille or cab corner, depending on the machine model).

   Carefully disconnect the electrical pigtail connector from the back of the headlamp bulb.

   If the connector is melted or heavily corroded, cut it back and splice in a replacement pigtail using weather-sealed heat-shrink connectors.

   Remove the retaining clip or twist the bulb counterclockwise to remove the faulty bulb from the housing.

   Install the new OEM-specification bulb.

   Note: If installing a halogen bulb, do not touch the glass with your bare fingers, as oil from your skin will cause the bulb to overheat and fail prematurely.

   Reconnect the electrical connector to the bulb.

   Reconnect the battery cable, turn on the ignition, and activate the low beam headlamps to verify operation.

   Connect a diagnostic scan tool (such as the CNH Electronic Service Tool) to clear the inactive 2655-00 fault code from the BCM memory.
