Case IH 2655-05 - BCM – Body Controller (BCM): Headlamp Low Beam Right #1 - Current below normal or open circuit
Issue description
The control module has detected that the electrical circuit for the right-hand low beam headlamp is incomplete (open circuit) or is drawing significantly less current than expected. This is most commonly caused by a blown headlamp bulb, a disconnected wiring harness, or a broken wire in the circuit.
Applies to these machines
2 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- AFS Connect Magnum Tractors (Models 180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, and 380 - Tier 4B)
Check the cause
Visually inspect the right low beam headlamp bulb to see if the filament is broken or burnt out.
Disconnect the right headlamp pigtail connector. Check for loose, pushed-back, or heavily corroded pins that could cause an open circuit.
Use a digital multimeter to check for continuity on the power and ground wires running from the Body Controller to the right headlamp assembly. Look for chafed or severed wires along the chassis harness.
Use a heavy-duty diagnostic scanner (such as JPRO or Autel MaxiSys CV) to monitor the BCM outputs and verify if the fault is 'Active' or 'Previously Active' (intermittent).
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery ground to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Headlamp
Remove the retaining bezel or access panel for the right-hand front headlamp assembly.
Replace the Bulb
If the diagnostic checks revealed a blown bulb, remove the old bulb and install a new one. Do not touch the glass of a halogen bulb with bare fingers.
Repair Harness (If Applicable)
If the bulb was good but the wiring was broken, splice and heat-shrink the damaged section of the wiring harness leading back to the BCM.
Reassemble and Test
Reconnect the headlamp harness, reconnect the battery, and turn on the low beam headlamps.
Clear Codes
Connect a diagnostic scan tool to the diagnostic port and clear the SPN 2655 FMI 5 code from the Body Controller's memory.
Parts you might need
