Case IH 2660-14 - ACM – ACM: BJM1 X - Redundant Input Failure
Issue description
Internal failure within the electronic joystick (Multi-Function Handle) regarding its X-axis (left/right movement). The internal diagnostics detect that the two redundant sensors for the X-axis do not match.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Case IH Magnum AFS Connect Series (180, 200, 220, 240, 250, 280, 310, 340, 380, 400)
- Case IH Steiger / Quadtrac Series
- Case IH Puma / Optum Series
Check the cause
Check for Software Updates: Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check if an ACM software update is available to resolve ghost error codes.
Monitor Live Data: Use the EST to monitor the Joystick X-axis position status. Slowly move the joystick left and right to check if the signal drops out, jumps erratically, or locks at a default error value of 1022 counts.
Inspect Wiring and Connections: Inspect the wiring harness between the joystick and the ACM for pinched wires in the armrest pivot points or loose pins at the joystick connector.
Physical Inspection: Ensure the joystick physically returns to the neutral position without binding.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor key and wait at least 20 seconds for the ACM and all other controllers to power down completely and save their memory states.
Disassemble the Armrest
Remove the plastic trim panels on the armrest console to access the base of the Multi-Function Handle (joystick).
Disconnect the Joystick
Unplug the CAN bus electrical connector at the base of the joystick.
Remove the Joystick
Remove the mounting screws securing the joystick base to the armrest console and lift the unit out.
Install the New Joystick
Seat the new joystick into the console, secure the mounting hardware, and plug in the electrical connector.
Reassemble and Calibrate
Reinstall the armrest trim. Turn the key on and use the tractor's Pro 1200 display (or the EST) to perform the joystick calibration procedure, ensuring the ACM learns the new minimum, maximum, and neutral X/Y axis values of the replacement joystick.
