2664-09 - ACM

Case IH 2664-09 - ACM – ACM: Joystick keypad disconnected while powered on

Issue description

The control module lost communication with the Multi-Function Handle (MFH) / Joystick keypad while the tractor's electrical system was actively powered. This is typically caused by a sudden loss of power/ground to the joystick, a break in the CAN/LIN communication bus inside the armrest, or an internal hardware failure of the joystick itself.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Case IH Magnum AFS Connect Series
  • Case IH Steiger / Quadtrac AFS Connect Series

Check the cause

  1. Perform a visual wiring inspection by removing the right-hand armrest trim panels to check the wiring harness connecting the joystick to the ACM for pinched wires, chafing, or loose connections.

  2. Disconnect the main plug at the base of the joystick and inspect for bent pins, pushed-out terminals, or corrosion.

  3. Test voltage and ground using a multimeter to verify the joystick is receiving proper operating voltage and has a solid ground connection at the harness connector.

  4. Clear the fault code using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or AFS Pro display, cycle the key, and retest to determine if it is a hard fault or intermittent.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical spikes to the ACM.

  2. Access the Armrest

Remove the retaining screws and plastic trim panels on the right-hand armrest console to expose the base of the joystick.

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Carefully unplug the electrical connector(s) from the bottom of the joystick assembly.

  4. Remove the Joystick

Remove the mounting bolts/screws securing the joystick base to the armrest frame. Lift the joystick out of the console.

  5. Install New Joystick

Place the new or remanufactured joystick into position and secure it with the mounting hardware.

  6. Reconnect Wiring

Plug the electrical connector(s) back into the new joystick, ensuring the locking tabs click into place.

  7. Reassemble

Reinstall the armrest trim panels and screws.

  8. Power Up and Calibrate

Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and use the Case IH EST or AFS Pro display to clear the 2664-09 fault code. Perform any required joystick/MFH calibration procedures as prompted by the display to sync the new handle with the ACM.
