2664 (6152.11) - DEC

Case IH 2664 (6152.11) - DEC – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) / Transmission ECM: Synchro 1 Solenoid - Generic Error

Issue description

A malfunction in the circuit of the solenoid valve responsible for actuating the #1 synchronizer in the transmission, typically indicating abnormal voltage pointing to a failed solenoid, a short to the battery in the energize circuit, or a failed ECM.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E

Check the cause

  1. Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position (do not start the engine)

  2. Disconnect the machine harness from the Synchro 1 Solenoid

  3. Inspect the harness and connector for physical damage, moisture, or corrosion

  4. Perform a short-circuit test: Place a jumper wire between the connector contacts at the solenoid harness

  5. Disconnect the machine harness connectors from the Transmission ECM

  6. Measure the resistance from the specific solenoid signal contact on the ECM harness to all possible sources of +Battery (expected result for a healthy circuit is greater than 5000 ohms)

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize

    Depressurize the hydraulic system.

  2. Remove

Remove the faulty solenoid valve from the transmission valve body.

  3. Install

    Install the new solenoid.

  4. Clear

Clear the fault codes via the diagnostic port.
