Case IH 2670-02 - ACM – ACM: Joystick 1 X-Axis Lever Left Negative Position Status
Issue description
The control module is receiving an invalid, out-of-range, or erratic electrical signal from the joystick's X-axis sensor when the lever is moved to the left (the negative travel side relative to the neutral position).
Applies to these machines
5 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Magnum Series (180, 200, 215, 220, 235, 240, 255, 275, 305, 335, 340)
- Steiger Series (280, 330, 335, 380, 385, 430, 435, 480, 485, 500, 530)
- STX Series (STX275, STX280, STX325, STX330, STX375, STX380, STX425, STX430, STX440)
- Maxxum Series
Check the cause
Verify the Armrest Control Module (ACM) configuration using a diagnostic tool, as an incorrect configuration can falsely trigger joystick axis voltage faults.
Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the joystick (Multi-Function Handle) and the ACM for pinched wires, loose pins, or corrosion.
Use a multimeter or diagnostic tool to monitor the live voltage of the Joystick 1 X-axis, verifying if the voltage drops too low or spikes too high when moved to the left.
Test for mechanical binding to ensure the joystick physically returns to the neutral position without obstruction and that internal return springs are intact.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during disassembly.
Access the Armrest Controls
Remove the retaining screws and panels on the right-hand console/armrest to expose the ACM and the base of the joystick assembly.
Test the Circuit
Disconnect the joystick harness. Check for continuity and verify that there is no short to ground or short to power in the X-axis signal wire leading back to the ACM.
Replace the Joystick
If the wiring is intact but the X-axis sensor fails the voltage sweep test, the joystick sensor has failed. Replace the entire Multi-Function Handle (joystick) assembly.
Reassemble and Calibrate
Install the new joystick and reconnect the harness. Reinstall the armrest panels and reconnect the battery.
Clear and Calibrate
Use the tractor's AFS display or a diagnostic tool to clear the 2670-02 fault code. Perform a joystick calibration procedure to teach the ACM the new neutral, full-left, and full-right voltage limits of the replacement part.
