Case IH 2676-02 - ACM – ACM: Joystick y-axis neutral position status circuit fault

Issue description

The control module is receiving an invalid or fluctuating voltage signal from the joystick's Y-axis potentiometer/sensor, meaning the system cannot reliably determine if the operator has returned the joystick to the neutral position.

Check the cause

  1. Ensure there is no physical debris or damage preventing the joystick from returning fully to the mechanical neutral position

  2. Inspect all Armrest Control Module (ACM) and joystick connectors. Ensure the connectors are fully seated, not damaged, and that the pins are in the correct position with a tight fit

  3. Access the 'Remote' or 'Joystick' tab on the Pro 700 display (or equivalent). Move the joystick forward and backward to see if the display registers the command input. If the display shows erratic movement without physical input, the potentiometer is likely failing

  4. Clear the fault code and test the system for normal operation to rule out a temporary voltage glitch

Repair steps

  1. Park and Secure

    Park the tractor on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and ensure the area is clear, as unexpected machine movement can occur during calibration procedures.

  2. Inspect Wiring

    If the fault is active, access the wiring harness beneath the armrest. Disconnect the Multi-Function Handle connector, clean the pins with contact cleaner, and reconnect securely.

  3. Perform Joystick Calibration

    If the wiring is intact, the joystick must be recalibrated. Access the calibration menu via the tractor's display monitor.

  4. Calibration Steps

    Follow the on-screen prompts. You will typically be asked to hold the joystick fully to the right, left, forward, and backward, pressing 'Enter' at each extreme to record the output values, and finally allowing it to rest in the neutral position.

  5. Evaluate Calibration Results

    If the calibration fails, or if the 2676-02 fault code returns immediately after calibration, the internal Y-axis sensor is defective.

  6. Component Replacement

    The joystick's internal potentiometers are generally not serviced separately. Remove and replace the Multi-Function Handle assembly.

  7. Re-Calibration

    After replacing the handle (or the ACM, if it is determined to be the root cause), you must perform the joystick calibration procedure again to initialize the new component.
