Case IH 2680-02 - ACM – ACM: Joystick x-axis detent position status circuit fault

The system has detected an erratic, intermittent, or incorrect signal on the circuit responsible for monitoring the x-axis detent position of the multi-function joystick. The tractor's computer cannot verify if the joystick is locked into the x-axis detent position, which may disable automated hydraulic functions or cause the joystick to kick out of detent unexpectedly.

   Move the joystick along the x-axis (left/right) to feel if the physical detent engages properly. Lack of mechanical resistance indicates a broken internal detent mechanism.

   Remove the armrest trim panels and inspect the wiring harness connecting the joystick base to the ACM for pinched wires, chafing, or loose connector pins.

   Access the AFS Pro display diagnostic menu and monitor the 'Joystick X-Axis Detent Position Status'. It should toggle between states (00/01). A reading of '10' or fluctuation without movement confirms a circuit issue.

   Check if code 2676-02 (Joystick y-axis detent position status circuit fault) is also present. If both are present, it highly suggests a shared ground issue or a complete failure of the joystick base connector.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working inside the armrest.

   Access the ACM

   Remove the screws securing the top cover of the armrest control console to expose the joystick assembly and the Armrest Control Module (ACM).

   Test the Circuit

   Disconnect the joystick harness from the ACM. Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the x-axis detent circuit wires between the joystick connector and the ACM connector.

   Repair Wiring

   If an open or short circuit is found in the sub-harness, repair the damaged wire or replace the armrest sub-harness.

   Replace Joystick Base

   If the wiring tests good, the internal detent sensor or microswitch inside the joystick base has failed. The joystick base/assembly must be replaced (internal electronic components of the joystick are rarely serviceable separately).

   Reassembly

   Plug the new joystick into the ACM, reinstall the armrest covers, and reconnect the battery.

   Calibration

   Turn the key on and use the AFS Pro display to clear the inactive 2680-02 fault code. Perform the joystick calibration procedure as prompted by the display to teach the ACM the new joystick's neutral, maximum, and detent positions.
