Case IH 2689-02 - ACM – ACM: Joystick shift switch circuit fault

The controller is receiving an error indicator, an out-of-range signal, or an intermittent connection from the shift switch (Button 5) on the multi-function handle.

   Connect a diagnostic tool to monitor live data for SPN 2689 and verify if the signal changes correctly between '00' and '01' when the shift switch is pressed, or if it is stuck on '10' (Error)

   Turn the starting switch OFF and inspect the connectors at the multi-function handle and the ACM for pushed-back pins, corrosion, or moisture

   Check the wiring harness between the joystick and the ACM for continuity, disconnections, or short circuits to ground

   Verify there are no underlying CAN bus communication errors (such as fault code 1012) causing a loss of joystick data

   Power Down

   Turn the starting switch OFF and disconnect battery power if servicing the wiring harness.

   Isolate the Component

   Disconnect the multi-function handle from the armrest harness.

   Harness Repair

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or short in the armrest harness, repair or replace the affected wiring section.

   Replace the Joystick

   If the wiring is intact, the internal shift switch (Button 5) has failed. The entire multi-function handle must be replaced as it is not permissible to open or internally repair the electronic joystick.

   Installation and Calibration

   Install the new multi-function handle into the armrest and reconnect the harness. Turn the starting switch ON, clear the stored fault codes using your diagnostic tool, and test the shift switch to ensure the fault does not return.
