Case IH 2694 – Transmission Electronic Control Unit (TECU) or TRANS: Transmission system pressure low
Issue description
The Transmission Controller (TECU) has detected that the hydraulic pressure in the transmission system has dropped below the minimum operational threshold. This pressure is required to engage the clutch packs, shift gears, and maintain adequate lubrication. If the pressure drops too low, the transmission may slip, jerk, or fail to engage, and the controller will log a fault to prevent catastrophic internal damage.

Check the cause
Check the transmission/hydraulic fluid level using the dipstick or sight glass. Low fluid is the most common cause of low pressure.
Check the transmission oil filters. A clogged filter will restrict hydraulic flow and cause a pressure drop.
Inspect the transmission pressure sensor, its connector, and the wiring harness. Look for frayed wires, corrosion, or a loose connection that could cause a false low-pressure reading.
Install a mechanical pressure gauge on the transmission test port to verify the actual hydraulic pressure. This determines whether the issue is a faulty sensor (electrical) or an actual loss of pressure (mechanical).
Repair steps
Top Up Fluid
If the transmission fluid is low, fill it to the correct level with Case IH Hy-Tran fluid and check for external leaks.
Replace Filters
If the fluid level is correct but pressure is low, replace the transmission hydraulic oil filter(s). Clear the code and retest.
Test/Replace the Sensor
If the mechanical pressure gauge shows normal pressure but the TECU still reports low pressure, the transmission pressure sensor has failed. Disconnect the wiring harness, unthread the old sensor, install the new sensor, and reconnect the harness.
Inspect the Pump and Valves
If the mechanical pressure gauge confirms that the hydraulic pressure is actually low, the problem is mechanical. You will need to inspect the transmission hydraulic pump, the regulator valve, and the lube valves for internal leakage or failure.
Recalibrate and Clear
After replacing the sensor, filter, or pump, use the tractor's display or an electronic service tool to clear the fault codes. Perform a transmission calibration if required by the specific model's service manual, and test drive the tractor to verify the repair.
