Case IH 2707 (518372.17) - DEC – DEC: HST CUTOFF Solenoid - LSD short to GND
Issue description
The Hydrostatic Transmission (HST) Cutoff Solenoid has a Low-Side Driver (LSD) short to ground. The wiring between the solenoid and the control module, or the module's internal driver itself, is unintentionally touching a ground source, which can cause the solenoid to remain continuously energized or force the module to shut down the circuit.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- VESTRUM CVX
- Farmall Compact series tractors
- Maxxum
- AFS Connect Magnum tractors
Check the cause
Unplug the connector at the HST Cutoff Solenoid to isolate the circuit
With the solenoid unplugged, check the ground-control wire running from the solenoid connector back to the DEC module for continuity to chassis ground (indicates a chafed wire shorted to the frame)
Test the internal resistance of the HST Cutoff Solenoid to ensure the coil itself has not internally shorted to its own casing
If the wiring harness and solenoid are intact, suspect the internal low-side driver inside the DEC module is stuck or damaged
Repair steps
Repair wiring
Repair the chafed wire in the transmission harness.
Replace solenoid
Replace a shorted HST Cutoff Solenoid.
Replace module
Replace a failed DEC module.
