Case IH 2711 – ZTC: PLFS (Park Lock Feedback Signal) Error in PTCTL1 CAN Message

The PLFS (Park Lock Feedback Signal) is registering an error or is not available within the PTCTL1 (Power Train Control 1) CAN message, typically indicating a communication failure such as a message counter mismatch, invalid counter, or message timeout.

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness between the ZTC and the transmission park lock sensor for interference or physical damage

   Verify that the CAN wires and connectors are not broken or unseated at the module or the sensor

   Test the CAN wire and connectors to ensure they are not defective and making contact with the vehicle chassis (short to ground)

   Check the Unit Controller counter for invalid data mismatches

   Locate components

   Locate the ZTC (Zone Tractor Controller) and the Park Lock Actuator/Sensor on the transmission housing.

   Disconnect harness

   Disconnect the wiring harness at both ends.

   Test continuity

   Using a multimeter, perform a continuity test on the CAN lines to check for broken wires.

   Test resistance

   Perform a resistance test from the CAN pins to the vehicle chassis to rule out a short to ground.

   Repair or replace wiring

   If the wiring harness is damaged, repair the broken wire or replace the affected harness section.

   Replace sensor

   If the wiring tests perfectly, the fault lies within the Park Lock Feedback sensor itself failing to broadcast its state, or the ZTC failing to process it. Replace the Park Lock sensor/actuator.

   Verify repair

   Clear the fault codes and cycle the park lock to verify the ZTC is now receiving the PTCTL1 PLFS message.
