Case IH 2719 (518375.17) - DEC – DEC (Driveline Electronic Control): DUMP Solenoid - LSD short to GND

The fault code indicates a failure in the Low Side Driver (LSD) circuit for the transmission's Dump Solenoid, specifically a short to ground (GND). A 'short to ground' means the circuit is finding a path to ground prematurely (before the controller commands it). This can cause the solenoid to be stuck on, leading to clutch pressure mismatches or transmission lockouts.

   Check for accompanying transmission error codes such as 2036 (Dump solenoid open circuit or short to ground), 2302 (19th gear clutch dump solenoid short to ground), or 2550/2551 (Stuck dump solenoid / pressure mismatch)

   Inspect the wiring harness from the DEC module to the transmission valve body for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or melted insulation that could cause the low side wire to touch the chassis (ground)

   Disconnect the dump solenoid connector and inspect for water intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins

   Measure the resistance of the dump solenoid coil with a multimeter. Check for continuity between the solenoid pins and the solenoid housing. Continuity to the housing indicates the solenoid is internally shorted

   Perform a circuit isolation test: With the battery disconnected and the harness unplugged from both the DEC module and the solenoid, test the low side driver wire for continuity to ground. If continuity exists, the harness is shorted

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to protect the DEC module from voltage spikes.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the specific dump solenoid on the transmission control valve block (refer to the specific model's hydraulic schematic to identify the correct clutch dump valve).

   Isolate the Fault

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a shorted harness, trace the wire back to the DEC module. Repair the chafed section of the wire using heat-shrink butt connectors and re-loom the harness, or replace the affected harness section. If the diagnostic checks revealed an internally shorted solenoid, proceed to replacement.

   Replace the Solenoid

   Clean the area around the valve body to prevent debris from entering the transmission. Unbolt and remove the faulty dump solenoid. Install the new solenoid with new O-rings (lubricated with clean transmission fluid) and torque to OEM specifications.

   Reassemble and Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the solenoid. Reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes and Calibrate

   Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's H-Menu/diagnostic display to clear the fault codes. Perform a transmission clutch calibration procedure, as replacing a transmission solenoid alters the clutch fill and dump characteristics.
