Case IH 2726 (517966.06) - DEC – Drivetrain Electronic Control (DEC): Clutch A solenoid - LSD short to HSD

This fault indicates an electrical short circuit in the transmission control system where the Low Side Driver (LSD) is shorted to the High Side Driver (HSD) on the circuit controlling the Clutch A solenoid. This bypasses the solenoid coil entirely, preventing Clutch A from engaging and usually resulting in the transmission being disabled.

   Locate the Clutch A solenoid valve on the transmission external controls valve block.

   Disconnect the electrical connector (often labeled Y23, Y60, or X-100) from the Clutch A solenoid.

   Test the solenoid resistance across its two pins using a multimeter. Compare to OEM specification; if resistance is near zero, the solenoid is internally shorted.

   Test the wiring harness with the solenoid and processor/TCU connectors disconnected. Check for continuity (a short) between the HSD wire and the LSD wire, and check for a short to ground.

   Ensure Safety

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable before performing electrical repairs.

   Address harness short

   If the harness is shorted: Trace the wiring harness between the DEC/TCU and the transmission valve block. Locate the chafed or melted section where the HSD and LSD wires are touching. Repair the wires using OEM-approved splicing methods or replace the transmission harness section.

   Address solenoid short

   If the solenoid is shorted: Remove the retaining bolt/nut holding the Clutch A solenoid valve to the transmission valve block. Remove the faulty solenoid and replace it with a new one. Ensure the O-rings are properly seated.

   Reassemble and Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the solenoid.

   Calibrate

   After replacing transmission solenoids or repairing the harness, clear the fault codes from the DEC/TCU. Perform a transmission/clutch calibration procedure (often accessed via the tractor's H-Menu or diagnostic tool) so the controller can learn the fill times and pressures for the new solenoid.
