Case IH 2736 (517974.03) - DEC – DEC: F2 Solenoid - LSD short to high voltage

The ground-side (low side) control circuit for the F2 transmission solenoid is shorted to a high voltage source (such as battery voltage), preventing the controller from properly regulating the solenoid.

   Inspect the F2 solenoid electrical connector and the transmission wiring harness for damage, secure connection, and correct pin position

   Use a multimeter to check the Low Side Driver circuit of the F2 solenoid wiring harness for a short to a high voltage source (battery voltage)

   Perform a component swap test by swapping the F1 and F2 solenoids (and their respective valves) to isolate a mechanical versus electrical issue. If the shifting problem moves to a different gear range, the solenoid is internally shorted or stuck

   Turn off the engine and ensure that all pressure is relieved from the hydraulic circuits before removing any caps, covers, or valves.

   Locate the F2 Solenoid on the transmission control valve block.

   Often grouped with the F1, R1, R2, and clutch solenoids.

   Disconnect the 2-pin female electrical connector from the F2 Solenoid.

   Disconnect Wiring

   If your diagnostic checks revealed a short in the wiring harness (rubbed or melted insulation touching a power wire), repair the affected section of the harness.

   If the wiring is intact and the solenoid is internally shorted, remove the retaining hardware for the F2 solenoid and extract the valve.

   Solenoid Replacement

   Install the replacement OEM F2 solenoid and reconnect the 2-pin electrical connector.

   Install New Part

   Clear the stored error codes from the DEC/Transmission controller by resetting the EEPROM values or using the tractor's diagnostic menu, then test the system function.
