2746 (517679.12) - DEC

Case IH 2746 (517679.12) - DEC – Transmission Control Unit / CVT Module: Vehicles moves once power zero is detected

Issue description

The tractor exhibits unexpected movement or continues to move when the system commands zero power (neutral/standstill). This is a known issue primarily caused by metallic contamination in the transmission fluid interfering with the PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) valves, or a physical failure of the transmission filter manifold/head where it joins the filter cartridge.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • VESTRUM CVX
  • Case IH Vestrum CVXDrive

Check the cause

  1. Visually and physically inspect the transmission filters and the area around the transmission PWM valves for metallic contamination.

  2. Perform a Sequential Test using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) by pulling a CAN LOG on CAN line 3 to monitor the transmission's behavior. Do not rely on the Volumetric EST test, as it cannot detect faults caused by contamination.

Repair steps

  1. Inspect the Filter Housing

Check the transmission filter head/manifold for cracks or breaks at the junction where the filter cartridge attaches. Replace the housing if damaged.

  2. Check for Debris

Remove the transmission filter and inspect it and the surrounding PWM valves for metallic shavings or debris.

  3. Flush and Replace Fluid

If any contamination is present, a complete transmission oil replacement is mandatory. Do not attempt to reuse the fluid.

  4. Replace Filters

    Install a new transmission/hydraulic filter.

  5. Clear Codes & Test

Clear the 2746 fault code via the EST and test drive the tractor to ensure it remains stationary when zero power is commanded.
