2757 (5114.10) - DEC

Case IH 2757 (5114.10) - DEC – ADIC/ICU (Instrument Control Unit) or Transmission Control Unit (TCU): CAN 1 - No message received from EPL

Issue description

This fault code indicates a communication failure on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN). Specifically, the main controller is not receiving expected messages over the CAN 1 bus from the EPL (Electronic Park Lock) module. When the CAN 1 bus loses the heartbeat or calibration messages from the EPL controller, the system logs this code and may disable the electronic park lock functionality or trigger a warning.

Check the cause

  1. Check battery voltage under load; a weak battery causing voltage drops during startup is a highly common cause of EPL communication dropouts.

  2. Inspect CAN 1 network wiring to the EPL module (Module XA), specifically circuit 6415 (CAN HI), circuit 6416 (CAN LO), and screen braid 6417 for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to voltage.

  3. Verify shuttle lever operation and check for related U-codes (like U115) that trigger if EPL module pins for the shuttle lever are shorted or cut.

  4. Check the mechanical adjustment of the EPL transmission lever and cable for binding or out-of-adjustment conditions that prevent proper actuator stroke.

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Power Issues

If the battery failed the load test, replace it and clear the codes. Test the tractor to see if the EPL communication restores.

  2. Repair Harness

If wiring damage is found on the CAN 1 lines (circuits 6415/6416) between the main ECU and the EPL module, repair the broken wires or replace the damaged connector pins.

  3. Adjust the EPL Cable

If the actuator is binding, manually adjust the EPL cable so that the electronic park brake engages smoothly without excessive resistance.

  4. Replace the EPL Module

If power, ground, and CAN lines are fully intact but the module remains dead on the network, replace the EPL Controller (Module XA).

  5. Perform EPL Calibration

Enter the H1 diagnostic menu via the ADIC display, select the EPL (XA) sub-menu, and perform the Accelerometer Calibration ('Inc') and Stroke Calibration ('SC'). Note: If the EPL system is completely failed and the tractor must be moved, a technician can temporarily disable the EPL via the Case IH EST configuration menu.
