Case IH 2758 (5114.19) - DEC – EPL (Electronic Park Lock) Controller: CAN 1 - At least one message received from EPL has a wrong length

A receiving control module is successfully seeing a message broadcast by the EPL (Electronic Park Lock) controller, but the data frame length (the number of bytes in the message) does not match the expected protocol.

   Perform a battery and voltage test, including a proper load test and cleaning all connections, as the EPL system is highly sensitive to voltage drops.

   Check for accompanying EPL codes (such as 12213 or 12212) using the EST or HH menu.

   Verify that the software versions of the EPL controller and the Transmission controller are compatible.

   EPL Reinitialization (In-Cab)

   Hold both brake pedals down simultaneously. Release the hand brake. Turn the ignition key to the RUN position. Place the shift lever in the Neutral position. Press the Neutral button on the shifter handle. The brake should release and the system will reinitialize.

   EST Calibration

   If manual reinitialization fails, connect the Case IH EST (Electronic Service Tool). Navigate to the EPL Diagnostics and Calibration menu. Perform the EPL/Park Brake Adjustment Procedure. Clear all stored fault codes (HC menu).

   Harness and Module Replacement

   If the fault returns immediately and software is up to date, inspect the CAN 1 wiring harness connecting the EPL actuator to the main cab bulkhead for chafing near the transmission housing. If the wiring is intact, the EPL Actuator/Controller itself has failed internally and must be replaced.
