Case IH 2761 (517801.19) - DEC – DEC: PTO twist not coherent with engine speed and Flywheel

The system has detected an implausible or erratic signal mismatch between the PTO twist sensor, the engine speed, and the flywheel speed. The fault triggers when the measured twist on the PTO shaft does not mathematically align with the current engine RPM and the flywheel speed sensor readings.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to the PTO twist sensor (Connector X262 or X300) and the Flywheel speed sensor (Connector X289) for visible breaks, disconnects, or corrosion.

   Test the sensor circuits for continuity and short-to-ground to rule out damaged wiring (often accompanied by codes 3121 or 3122).

   Check the DEC module fuses and the ECU 12V high-side driver power supplies, as a voltage drop can cause erratic sensor readings.

   Ensure the PTO is completely turned off, as accidental starting during a background calibration will throw coherence errors.

   Secure the Machine

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

   Repair/Replace Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks reveal damaged wiring at the 3-pin connector (X262/X300) for the PTO twist sensor or the flywheel speed sensor, repair the wiring or replace the connector.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring is intact but the signal remains erratic, replace the PTO twist sensor and/or the flywheel speed sensor.

   Perform Calibration

   Navigate the instrument cluster 'HH' menus (using the 'h', 'm', and dimming/menu buttons) to H2 and select the PTO symbol. Initiate the auto-calibration mode. Do not touch the throttle or engage the PTO during this process. Engine speed must remain stable (typically between 850 and 950 RPM). The display will show 'End' when the calibration is successful.

   Clear Codes

   Cycle the key OFF for at least 3 seconds, then turn it back ON to clear the error codes and verify the repair.
