Case IH 2800 – Transmission Control Module (TRANS): Auto Guidance Isolation valve driver Fault
Issue description
The controller has detected an electrical issue—such as an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to power (B+)—in the driver circuit that controls the auto guidance isolation valve solenoid. Because the controller cannot confirm the state of the valve (whether it is on or off), it triggers this code and disables the auto guidance system for safety.

Check the cause
Visual Harness Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the auto guidance isolation valve on the steering block. Note: A known issue on some models involves the cab suspension allowing the isolation valve wiring harness to rub against air conditioning hoses. The internal copper strands can break while the outer wire insulation still looks perfectly intact.
Circuit Testing: Use a multimeter to check for open circuits, shorts to ground, or shorts to power in the wiring between the transmission controller and the isolation valve solenoid.
Solenoid Resistance Test: Measure the resistance across the pins of the isolation valve solenoid coil to verify it is within OEM specifications and not internally shorted or open.
Firmware Check: Verify that the tractor's transmission controller and NAV controller firmware are up to date, as outdated firmware can sometimes cause false CAN isolation valve faults.
Repair steps
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.
Ensure the machine is safely parked before beginning repairs.
Locate the auto guidance steering valve block and identify the isolation valve solenoid.
Identify the correct valve on the steering block.
Disconnect the electrical connector to the isolation valve.
Remove the harness connection to isolate the valve.
If the diagnostic tests revealed a wiring fault, repair the harness or replace the affected pigtail connector.
Reroute the harness slightly and secure it with zip ties to prevent future rubbing against AC lines or cab suspension components.
If the solenoid coil failed the resistance test, clean the area around the valve.
Cleaning prevents hydraulic contamination during replacement.
Relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the steering circuit.
Ensure the system is depressurized before removing the valve.
Unthread the faulty isolation valve/solenoid from the steering block and install the replacement part.
Torque the new valve to OEM specifications.
Reconnect the electrical harness.
Plug the connector back into the new isolation valve.
Clear the fault codes and test the auto guidance system.
Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the in-cab AFS Pro display to clear the codes, then ensure the fault does not return.
