Case IH 2814 – Transmission Controller (Trans): Integrated Control Panel off line

Issue description

The control module has lost CAN bus communication with the Integrated Control Panel (ICP), which is the button interface located in the center portion of the tractor's Multicontroller armrest.

Check the cause

  1. Check for other CAN bus communication codes (such as 2817 or 2818). If multiple modules are offline, the issue is likely a main CAN bus wiring fault rather than a failed ICP.

  2. Check the main fuses and ground connections supplying power to the armrest control modules.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness connecting the Integrated Control Panel to the Armrest Control Module (ACM) and the tractor's CAN network. Look for chafed wires, pinched harnesses under the armrest pivot points, or loose connections.

  4. Unplug the ICP and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery power to prevent electrical shorts or voltage spikes during the repair.

  2. Access the Panel

Remove the necessary mounting hardware and trim pieces on the Multicontroller armrest to expose the underside of the Integrated Control Panel.

  3. Disconnect the Module

Unplug the factory plug-and-play wiring harness from the back of the faulty ICP.

  4. Install the New Part

Connect the wiring harness to the replacement Integrated Control Panel. Ensure the weather-sealed connector clicks fully into place.

  5. Reassembly

Seat the new ICP into the armrest console and secure the trim panels and mounting screws.

  6. Restore Power and Test

Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition key on and verify that the ICP backlighting illuminates.

  7. Clear Codes

Use the AFS Pro monitor or an electronic service tool to clear the inactive 2814 fault code and test the panel's functions (e.g., hitch controls, engine speed settings) to ensure network communication is restored.

Parts you might need
