Case IH 2822 – Transmission Controller / Transmission Control Module (TCU): System pressure out of range high

The code is triggered when the transmission system pressure sensor detects that the system pressure is greater than 2757 kPa (400 psi) while the engine RPM is greater than 1400 RPM, and these conditions persist for 30 seconds.

   Check the transmission oil level. If it is low, fill it to the proper level and retest.

   Inspect the transmission system pressure sensor and the ECU connectors (C517, X-517, or C044). Ensure connectors are securely connected, undamaged, and pins are tight and in the correct position.

   Verify that a 5V power supply is available from the controller at Pin B of the sensor harness.

   Perform a harness shorting test to isolate the cause (sensor vs. wiring): Disconnect the sensor. Short Pin C to Pin A at the harness side and run the tractor (fault code should not reappear). Short Pin C to Pin B at the harness side and run the tractor (fault code should reappear). If it behaves this way, the sensor is faulty. If not, there is a wiring harness issue.

   Prepare machine for service

   Park the machine on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

   Locate sensor

   Locate the transmission system pressure sensor on the transmission valve block/housing.

   Disconnect sensor

   Disconnect the electrical connector (C517/X-517) from the sensor.

   Remove faulty sensor

   If the diagnostic pin tests proved the sensor is faulty, unthread and remove the defective system pressure sensor.

   Install new sensor

   Install the new OEM transmission system pressure sensor and tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Reconnect harness

   Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the connector clicks into place and is free of dirt or moisture.

   Repair wiring harness

   If the diagnostic pin tests failed, trace the wiring harness back to the Transmission Controller, locate the open or short circuit, and repair or replace the damaged wiring.

   Clear fault codes

   Clear the fault codes using an Electronic Service Tool or the machine's diagnostic display.

   Verify repair

   Start the tractor, run the engine above 1400 RPM for more than 30 seconds, and verify that the fault code does not return and the machine returns to proper operation.
