Case IH 2858.13 - ACML – ACML: Parameter Checksum (ROM), out of calibration
Issue description
The internal Read-Only Memory (ROM) of the control module has failed its checksum validation. The software parameters, operating system, or calibration data stored on the chip are corrupted, missing, or mismatched.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- VESTRUM CVX
- Case IH Maxxum Series
- Case IH Puma Series
- Case IH Magnum Series
- Case IH Steiger Series
Check the cause
Verify tractor battery voltage and inspect the cab/armrest ground connections to rule out severe voltage drops or spikes during startup
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to the ACML for damaged pins, corrosion, or loose connections
Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST), attempt to clear the code, and re-flash the ACML with the latest software level
Attempt to run the armrest calibration procedures (such as the EHR lever and joystick calibrations) via the tractor's H-menu
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the battery disconnect switch to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Module
Remove the protective covers and panels on the Multicontroller armrest to expose the ACML.
Remove the ACML
Carefully unplug the multi-pin electrical connectors from the module. Remove the mounting hardware (typically M3 x 0.5 x 14.4mm screws).
Install the New Module
Secure the replacement ACML into the armrest and reconnect the electrical harnesses.
Restore Power
Turn the battery disconnect switch back on.
Program and Calibrate
Connect the CNH EST laptop, download the correct software level for the specific tractor configuration, and push it to the new ACML.
Perform Armrest Calibrations
Once programmed, perform the calibration procedures for all armrest components (EHR levers, joystick, throttle, etc.) so the new module learns the minimum and maximum potentiometer values.
