Case IH 2910-01 - DEC – Trans (Transmission) ECU: PTO rear clutch solenoid electrical circuit fault voltage low / 12VF1 voltage supply is low

The 12VF1 circuit provides the power supply to various transmission and PTO solenoids. When the voltage on this circuit drops below the normal operating threshold, the controller cannot provide adequate power to the PTO rear clutch solenoid, triggering the fault.

   Test Battery and Charging System: Test the battery voltage to ensure it holds around 12 - 14 volts. If the battery is good, test the alternator output to ensure it is charging properly.

   Inspect Fuses: Check the fuse panel for a blown fuse on the 12VF1 power supply circuit.

   Test Solenoid Resistance: Disconnect the PTO solenoid connector and test the resistance across the pins. Depending on the exact model, the resistance should measure approximately 6.0 - 6.8 ohms or 8.5 - 9.7 ohms at 25°C (77°F). If the resistance is out of this range, the solenoid has failed internally.

   Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Check the wiring harness between the controller and the PTO solenoid. Always inspect connector ends for damaged, bent, or dislocated pins. Check for a bad connection, improper ground, or a short to ground along the power supply wire.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Replace fuse or repair wiring

   If the 12VF1 fuse is blown, replace it with a fuse of the correct amperage. If the fuse immediately blows again upon powering the tractor, trace the 12VF1 wiring harness to locate and repair the short to ground.

   Locate solenoid

   If the wiring is intact but the PTO solenoid failed the resistance test, locate the PTO rear clutch solenoid valve on the transmission/PTO valve block.

   Disconnect harness

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the solenoid.

   Remove retaining hardware

   Remove the retaining nut or bolt securing the solenoid coil to the valve stem.

   Install new solenoid

   Slide the old solenoid off and install the new OEM replacement solenoid.

   Secure and reconnect

   Secure the retaining nut/bolt and reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the connector clicks into place and is free of dirt or moisture.

   Test repair

   Reconnect the battery, clear the fault codes from the display, and test the PTO engagement to verify the repair.
