Case IH 299001-12 - VCM – Steering Valve Controller: EEPROM: Verified write to cell error

Internal error in the parameter storage of the steering valve controller. The controller registers this as a 'Permanent' error, which forces the solenoids to be disabled (spool forced to neutral) to prevent unintended behavior, and CAN control is suspended.

   Check for multiple faults: Ensure no other severe CAN or voltage faults are forcing the module into a disabled state.

   Power cycle: Because the error suspends CAN control, a reboot is strictly required to attempt to restore communication and clear the permanent error state.

   Cycle power

   Turn off the tractor and cycle the power to reboot the controller and attempt to restore CAN control.

   Test steering system

   Operate the machine or re-engage the steering system to see if the fault code 299001-12 returns.

   Monitor for recurrence

   If the error clears, it may have been a temporary memory glitch; monitor the machine for recurrence.

   Replace electrohydraulic actuator

   If the error is repeated, the internal parameter storage (EEPROM) has permanently failed. Replace the PVED-CC electrohydraulic actuator on the steering valve.

   Configure and calibrate

   Configure the new CAN bus module (e.g., Node ID, Baudrate) and calibrate the steering system as required by the specific Case IH machine's service manual.
