Case IH 299002-11 - VCM – Steering Valve Controller: Variable truncation / Internal calculation fault

A severe internal software error within the steering valve controller. The controller's software has encountered a permanent calculation error or memory fault that prevents it from safely operating the electrohydraulic steering system.

   Cycle the power by turning the ignition key off, waiting for the system to power down completely, and turning it back on to see if CAN control is restored

   Check the fault history to observe if the fault code repeats upon reboot (fault code index may increase to 299003 or 299006)

   Inspect power and ground connections at the battery and the chassis power cable

   Check the voltages on the electrical connections directly at the steering valve (PVED module) to ensure no corrosion or voltage drops are causing the module to fault

   Reboot the System

   Turn the ignition key off and back on.

   Evaluate

   If the error clears and does not return during operation, it was a temporary software glitch.

   Replace the Actuator

   If the error is permanent and repeats after a power cycle, the internal software/memory is corrupted. The PVED-CC / PVED-CLS steering valve controller cannot be repaired in the field and must be replaced.

   Calibrate

   After installing a new steering valve controller, the steering system and WAS (Wheel Angle Sensor) must be recalibrated using the tractor's display or a diagnostic service tool.
