Case IH 299005-11 - VCM – VCM / UCM: Software Initialization - Fault in software configuration or initialization process

A severe internal failure within the steering valve controller where the software could not initialize properly or the configuration data is invalid. The system flags this as an 'Unknown root-cause' internal failure.

   Power Cycle / Reboot: Turn the ignition key off and back on to attempt to restore CAN control.

   Check Battery/Cranking Voltage: Ensure supply voltage does not drop below 9V during engine cranking, which can cause the power-on self-test to fail or re-execute.

   Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Check the wiring harness and the 12-pin Deutsch DT04-12PA-B016 connector at the PVED-CLS steering valve for corrosion, moisture, or loose pins.

   Check CAN Bus: Ensure there are no other active errors present on the CAN bus that might be flooding the network or preventing communication.

   Power cycle and monitor

   Turn the ignition key off and back on. Monitor the diagnostic display.

   Evaluate fault recurrence

   If the fault code is repeated (the fault counter is increased by 1), the PVED-CC or PVED-CLS should be replaced.

   Locate steering valve assembly

   If voltage and wiring checks pass but the code remains permanent, locate the electrohydraulic steering valve assembly (OSPE valve).

   Remove faulty module

   Remove the faulty Danfoss PVED-CLS / PVED-CC actuator module from the steering valve block.

   Install replacement module

   Install the replacement PVED actuator module.

   Calibrate and configure

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST). Use the EST to download the correct vehicle-specific parameters, calibrate the steering sensors (like the SASA wheel angle sensor), and clear the fault codes.
