Case IH 3 – Instrumentation Controller / Performance Monitor or Electronic Hitch (EDC) controller: Radar (Ground Speed) Greater Than Wheel Speed

This code is triggered when the ground speed reported by the tractor's radar sensor is abnormally high compared to the axle/wheel speed calculated by the transmission output speed sensor. This discrepancy usually means the radar is picking up false movement (like tire lugs or vibration) or the transmission speed sensor is failing to read the correct axle speed.

   Verify that the radar unit is pointing directly at the ground and has not been bumped or bent to point at the tractor's tires

   Ensure the radar mounting bracket is completely secure, as excessive vibration will cause false speed pulses

   Inspect the transmission output speed sensor (wheel speed sensor) to ensure it is securely tightened and properly gapped

   Check the connectors and wiring harnesses for both the radar unit and the output speed sensor for corrosion, moisture, or physical damage

   Realign and Secure the Radar

   If the radar is pointing at the wheel or vibrating, redirect the radar at the ground and tighten all mounting hardware. Test drive the tractor.

   Secure the Speed Sensor

   If the radar mounting and position are okay, check the output speed sensor on the transmission. Retighten the sensor if it is loose.

   Replace the Output Speed Sensor

   If the error persists after securing both components, the output speed sensor is likely dropping its signal. Remove and replace the output speed sensor.

   Replace the Radar Unit

   If replacing the output speed sensor does not resolve the issue, the radar unit itself has failed internally and must be replaced.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the fault memory and perform a test drive to verify the repair.
