Case IH 30 – TMF / HITCH / ATC: Right Draft Pin voltage is outside the normal operating range
Issue description
The controller is receiving a voltage signal from the right-hand draft load sensing pin that falls outside the expected parameters (often flagged during calibration if the voltage is not within spec for a 'no load' condition).
Applies to these machines
6 machines- Magnum
- Magnum Series
- MX Magnum Series
- Newer Magnum Series
- Puma Series
- Steiger Series
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the right draft pin for damaged, pinched, or broken wires.
Disconnect the sensor and check for moisture, water intrusion, or corrosion at the connector (a known issue on older Magnums).
Verify pin voltages at the RH draft pin sensor connector using a multimeter (Pin C: power, Pin B: signal, Pin A: ground). Check if the signal voltage is erratic or out of range.
Check hitch calibration status and ensure the pin is not under physical load during a 'no load' calibration step.
Repair steps
Lower hitch
Lower the 3-point hitch and safely support any attached implement to remove physical load from the draft pins.
Disconnect sensor
Disconnect the triangular electrical connector from the right draft pin sensor.
Remove hardware
Remove the retaining hardware holding the right draft pin in the lower lift arm linkage.
Replace sensor
Slide the defective draft pin out and install the new OEM draft pin sensor.
Reinstall hardware
Reinstall the retaining hardware and plug in the electrical connector.
Calibrate hitch
Perform the Hitch Calibration procedure via the tractor's display/monitor so the controller can learn the new sensor's 'no load' base voltage.
Locate connectors (Bypass Option)
If the draft control feature is not needed, locate the triangular electrical connectors for the draft pins under the rear of the cab.
Unplug draft pin (Bypass Option)
Unplug the defective right draft pin (and left, if doing both).
Install elimination module (Bypass Option)
Plug the Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination module directly into the tractor's harness.
Secure module (Bypass Option)
Zip-tie the module securely out of the way.
