Case IH 3005 (F-107-15) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Air filter clog or circuit failure

This code indicates that the engine's air intake system is experiencing a severe restriction (a clogged air filter) or that the air filter restriction sensor/circuit is malfunctioning, sending an out-of-range or erratic signal to the control module.

   Verify that the tractor's battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply. If connected, disconnect it and test for normal operation.

   Visually inspect the relevant harnesses and connectors leading to the air filter restriction sensor for damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires.

   Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the active status of fault 3005 (DTC 4B84).

   Check the ECU (ECU A-095) for the appropriate software version to rule out an erroneous code triggered by a software glitch.

   Inspect the Air Filter

   Open the air cleaner housing and inspect the primary and secondary air filter elements. If they are heavily soiled, clogged with dust/debris, or damaged, replace them immediately.

   Test the Sensor Circuit

   If the filters are clean, locate the air filter restriction sensor on the air intake tubing or filter housing. Use a multimeter to check for continuity and verify that the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage from the ECU.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring is intact but the sensor fails testing (or if the code persists with clean filters and good wiring), replace the air filter restriction sensor.

   Re-flash the ECU

   If the fault has still not been resolved after replacing the filter and sensor, and the wiring is confirmed good, re-flash the ECU with the latest software update using the EST.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the fault codes and run the engine to maximum speed to ensure the code does not return.
