Case IH 3011 – Engine ECU (Engine Control Unit / EDC): Air Intake Temperature Sensor - Signal Above Range Min.

The control module has detected that the electrical signal coming from the Air Intake Temperature (IAT) sensor has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold. This typically indicates that the sensor is defective or that there is a short circuit to ground in the sensor's wiring harness.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Air Intake Temperature sensor for any chafing, melted insulation, or exposed wires that could be causing a short circuit to ground.

   Disconnect the sensor and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals.

   Use a multimeter to check the sensor's resistance. If the sensor is internally shorted, it will read out of specification and must be replaced.

   If no CAN plausibility check is performed automatically, restart the system to see if the problem reoccurs after clearing the code.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate the Sensor

   Find the Air Intake Temperature sensor. Depending on the engine model, it will be located either on the air intake piping just after the air filter/intercooler or directly on the intake manifold (often as a combined MAP/IAT sensor).

   Disconnect

   Press the release tab on the electrical connector and pull it away from the sensor.

   Remove

   Unthread the sensor from the intake pipe or remove the retaining bolt(s) if it is a flange-style sensor.

   Install

   Insert the new sensor. If it is threaded, ensure the O-ring or thread sealant is intact. Tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification (do not overtighten plastic manifolds).

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in until it clicks securely.

   Finalize

   Reconnect the battery, start the engine, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the inactive 3011 fault code.
