3015 (DTC 1C15) - ECU

Case IH 3015 (DTC 1C15) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Fuel temperature sensor voltage is higher than expected

Issue description

The engine control module is receiving a voltage signal from the fuel temperature sensor that exceeds the maximum allowable threshold, typically indicating a short circuit to a high voltage source, a faulty sensor, or a wiring harness issue.

Applies to these machines

  • MAXXUM T4E
  • 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines (7230, 8230, 9230)
  • Steiger series (350–600 HP)
  • Puma series
  • Maxxum series (e.g., MX100C)
  • Farmall series
  • CX series
  • CS series
  • C series
  • Skid Steers / Compact Track Loaders (SSL/CTL)

Check the cause

  1. Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the active status of fault 3015 (DTC 1C15).

  2. Verify that the tractor's battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply. If an external power supply is connected, disconnect it and test the system for normal operation.

  3. Visually inspect the relevant harnesses and connectors for damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires. Verify that the connectors are fully seated and installed.

  4. If the fault has not been resolved by wiring checks, check the ECU (A-095) for the appropriate software version and re-flash the ECU if necessary.

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Sensor

Locate the fuel temperature sensor, which is typically threaded into the fuel rail or the injection pump housing.

  2. Disconnect Wiring

Carefully disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor by pulling the lock outward.

  3. Remove Sensor

Unscrew the old fuel temperature sensor from its housing.

  4. Clean and Prep

Clean the threads on the housing to prevent fuel contamination before installing the new sensor.

  5. Install New Sensor

Thread the new sensor into place and tighten to OEM specifications.

  6. Reconnect

Reconnect the electrical wiring harness, ensuring the lock clicks securely into place.

  7. Clear Codes

Use the EST to clear the fault code and run the engine to verify the repair.
