3019

Case IH 3019 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Intake manifold pressure sensor voltage is higher than expected.

Issue description

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) is detecting a voltage signal from the intake manifold pressure sensor (sensor B-013) that exceeds the normal operating range (often indicating a short to a high-voltage source).

Applies to these machines

  • Farmall
  • skid steer
  • Steiger T4B
  • 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines
  • 7240
  • 7250
  • 8240
  • 8250
  • 9240
  • 9250
  • Puma Tractors

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the machine's battery is not currently connected to an external power supply (such as a battery charger or jump box), which can artificially spike voltage.

  2. Test the machine's battery voltage to ensure the charging system is operating correctly and not overcharging.

  3. Check if the fault is currently active. If active alongside other codes (like under-boost failures), diagnose the active voltage code first.

Repair steps

  1. Inspect Wiring

Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the intake manifold pressure sensor (B-013). Look for damaged wires that may be shorting to a high-voltage source.

  2. Replace Sensor

If the wiring and battery voltage are normal, the internal circuitry of the intake manifold pressure sensor has likely failed. Remove the old sensor and install the replacement.

  3. Unlock Inducement

Because this specific fault code causes an engine inducement (an automatic engine power loss/derate to reduce exhaust emissions), simply replacing the part will not clear the derate. You must connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and perform the 'Engine Restart Counter Reset / Unlock Inducement' configuration in the EST configure menu before the machine can be returned to service.
