3026

Case IH 3026 – ECM / VCM: Atmospheric Pressure Signal - NO SIGNAL

Issue description

The engine control system has completely lost the electrical signal from the atmospheric (barometric) or manifold air pressure sensor.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Steiger
  • Puma
  • Maxxum

Check the cause

  1. Locate the atmospheric pressure sensor or manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor on the engine intake.

  2. Inspect the sensor's electrical connector for disconnected plugs, dirt, corrosion, or pushed-out pins.

  3. Check the wiring harness between the sensor and the ECM/VCM for chafing, breaks, or shorts to ground.

  4. Use a multimeter to verify if the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage and ground from the engine computer.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the atmospheric/manifold pressure sensor.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the atmospheric/manifold pressure sensor.

  3. Clean the connector contacts using electrical contact cleaner if corrosion or field dust is present.

Clean the connector contacts using electrical contact cleaner if corrosion or field dust is present.

  4. Repair any damaged sections of the wiring harness if broken wires were found during the diagnostic phase.

Repair any damaged sections of the wiring harness if broken wires were found during the diagnostic phase.

  5. If the wiring and connector are in good condition but the "NO SIGNAL" fault persists, unscrew or unbolt the faulty pressure sensor from the intake manifold.

If the wiring and connector are in good condition but the "NO SIGNAL" fault persists, unscrew or unbolt the faulty pressure sensor from the intake manifold.

  6. Thread in or install the new replacement sensor and reconnect the wiring harness.

Thread in or install the new replacement sensor and reconnect the wiring harness.

  7. Reconnect the battery.

    Reconnect the battery.

  8. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the fault codes and run the engine to verify the repair and ensure proper fuel delivery and timing are restored.

Use a diagnostic tool to clear the fault codes and run the engine to verify the repair and ensure proper fuel delivery and timing are restored.
