Case IH 3029 – Engine Electronic Control Unit (ECU): Oil pressure sensor voltage is higher than expected

The control module has detected a voltage greater than 4.93 V for a period greater than 500 milliseconds in the oil pressure sensor's signal circuit.

   Verify that the machine's battery power supply has not been connected to an external power supply (like a jump starter or external charger)

   Visually inspect the harnesses and connectors between the oil pressure sensor (B-014) and the ECU (A-095) for damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires

   Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check if the ECU (A-095) has the appropriate software

   Disconnect External Power

   Ensure no external chargers or jump packs are connected to the machine's battery.

   Inspect and Repair Wiring

   Trace the signal circuit from the oil pressure sensor to the ECU. If you find a short to the battery, chafed wires, or corroded connector pins, repair the wiring harness or replace the connector.

   Test the Sensor

   If the wiring harness and connectors are in good condition and the voltage at the ECU remains above 4.93 V, the internal circuitry of the oil pressure sensor has likely failed (shorted).

   Replace the Sensor

   Remove the faulty oil pressure sensor and install the replacement OEM sensor.

   Clear and Verify

   Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the 3029 (18D3) fault code. Run the engine and verify that the code has been resolved and does not return.
