Case IH 3030-03 - DEC – DEC: Hydro static control unit solenoid electrical circuit fault voltage above normal

Issue description

Voltage above normal or shorted to high source. This condition occurs when the control module detects a voltage on the hydrostatic control solenoid circuit that is higher than the expected operating range. This is typically caused by the signal wire shorting directly to a power source (battery voltage) or an open circuit in a ground-controlled component.

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the transmission wiring harness routing near the hydrostatic control unit for physical damage, rubbing, or melted insulation that could cause a short to power.

  2. Disconnect the hydrostatic control unit solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals.

  3. Using a multimeter, test the solenoid signal wire for continuity to a power source (short to high).

  4. Measure the resistance (ohms) across the hydrostatic solenoid coil to verify it is within OEM specifications and not internally open.
