Case IH 3030-05 - DEC – DEC: Hydro static control unit solenoid electrical circuit
Issue description
The controller is detecting that the electrical current flowing through the hydrostatic control solenoid is lower than the expected operational range, or the circuit is completely broken (open).
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Titan Series Floaters/Sprayers (Models 3030, 3530, 4030, 4530)
- AFS Connect Magnum Tractors (Models 180 through 380)
- Axial-Flow Combines (240 series)
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the hydrostatic control unit solenoid for frayed insulation, rubbing, or severed wires.
Disconnect the harness at the solenoid and at the DEC module. Check for pushed-back pins, corrosion, moisture, or loose connections.
Using a multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the hydrostatic control solenoid. An OL (Open Loop) or infinite reading confirms the internal coil is broken.
Check for continuity on the signal and return wires between the DEC module connector and the solenoid connector to rule out a broken wire in the harness.
Repair steps
Safely park the machine on level ground, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.
Locate the hydrostatic control unit on the drivetrain/transmission assembly and identify the specific control solenoid.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid.
If dirt or corrosion is present, clean the contacts with an approved electrical contact cleaner.
If the multimeter test (from the diagnostic steps) revealed an open internal coil, unbolt and remove the faulty hydrostatic control solenoid.
Install the replacement solenoid and torque the retaining nut/bolts to OEM specifications.
Reconnect the electrical harness.
If the harness connector was damaged, splice in a new connector pigtail using weather-sealed heat-shrink butt connectors.
Turn the key to the ON position and use the cab monitor (e.g., Pro 1200 or AFS display) to navigate to the "Faults and Warnings" menu.
Verify the fault has moved from "Active" to "Inactive" and clear the code.
Test operate the machine's hydrostatic drive to ensure normal operation and verify the code does not return.
