Case IH 3031 – Engine Control Unit (ENG / EDC): Oil Pressure Sensor - Hardware Error

The control module has detected an open circuit in the engine oil pressure sensor circuit, or the sensor has been completely disconnected.

   Locate the engine oil pressure sensor on the engine block and verify that it is securely plugged in.

   Inspect the sensor's 3-pin connector (supply, ground, output) for dirt, corrosion, or pushed-out pins.

   Trace the wiring harness back to the Engine ECU and look for chafed, broken, or melted wires.

   Test the circuit for continuity using a multimeter to ensure there is no open circuit.

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   If the diagnostic checks reveal a disconnected plug, simply clean the contacts, reconnect the sensor securely, and test the machine to see if the code clears.

   If wiring damage is found during the harness inspection, repair the broken wire(s) or replace the damaged section of the harness.

   If the wiring and connections are intact and have good continuity, the sensor itself has likely suffered an internal hardware failure.

   Unplug the connector and use a wrench to carefully unthread the faulty oil pressure sensor from the engine block.

   Thread the new OEM replacement sensor into the block (be sure to check if thread sealant is required per your specific engine's manual) and tighten to spec.

   Plug the 3-pin connector back into the new sensor.

   Reconnect the battery, start the engine, and verify that the fault code is inactive and that the dash displays normal oil pressure.
