Case IH 3034 (DTC 11E3) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) A-095: Oil temperature sensor voltage is higher than expected

The ECU detects that the voltage in the temperature signal circuit of the oil temperature sensor (Component B-014) is greater than 4.93 Volts for a period longer than 500 milliseconds. This typically points to a short to a high-voltage source, an open circuit, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

   External Power Check: Check if the tractor/machine battery has been connected to an external power supply (like a jump starter or charger). If an external power supply is connected, disconnect it and test the system for normal operation, as this can cause voltage anomalies.

   Visual Inspection: Visually inspect the relevant wiring harnesses and connectors between the Oil Temperature Sensor (B-014) and the ECU (A-095).

   Connector Integrity: Look for damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires. Verify that all connectors are fully seated and locked.

   Wiggle Test: Flex the harnesses involved while monitoring the sensor voltage to reveal any intermittent shorts or open circuits.

   EST Verification: Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to monitor the live voltage of the sensor and verify the active fault.

   Resolve Wiring Issues

   If the visual inspection or wiggle test reveals damaged wiring or corroded pins, repair or replace the affected harness/connector section.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring and connectors are in good condition but the voltage remains above 4.93V, the B-014 Oil Temperature Sensor has likely suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.

   Clear and Re-test

   After replacing the sensor or repairing the wiring, use the EST to verify that fault code 3034 (DTC 11E3) has been resolved.

   ECU Software Check

   If the fault has not been resolved after replacing the sensor and verifying the wiring, check the A-095 ECU for the appropriate software version. Re-flash the ECU with the latest software if necessary.
