Case IH 3034 – Engine Electronic Control Unit (ECU A-095): Oil temperature sensor voltage is higher than expected

The control module has detected a voltage greater than 4.93 V for a period longer than 500 milliseconds in the oil temperature sensor's signal circuit. This typically indicates an open circuit, a short to a high voltage source, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

   Verify that the tractor battery has not been connected to an external power supply (like a jump starter or external charger), as this can artificially spike circuit voltages.

   Inspect the relevant wiring harnesses and connectors between the oil temperature sensor (B-014) and the ECU (A-095) for physical damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires.

   Check the ECU (A-095) for the appropriate software version. If a known software glitch exists for your specific model, re-flash the ECU using the Electronic Service Tool (EST).

   Turn off the machine, remove the key, and ensure no external power supplies are connected.

   Locate the Engine Oil Temperature Sensor (Component B-014) on the engine block.

   Disconnect the sensor's wiring harness connector.

   Inspect the connector for moisture, dirt, or corrosion.

   Using a multimeter, test the wiring harness for continuity to the ECU and ensure there is no short to a high-voltage source on the signal wire.

   If the wiring harness and connectors test good, the fault is an internal failure of the B-014 oil temperature sensor.

   Place a catch pan under the sensor area (some oil may leak), remove the faulty oil temperature sensor, and install the replacement part.

   Reconnect the wiring harness securely.

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST), clear the 3034 (DTC 11E3) fault code, and run the machine to verify the code has been resolved and does not return.
