Case IH 3037 – Engine Electronic Control Unit (ECU): Intake manifold pressure sensor voltage is lower than expected

The signal voltage from the intake manifold pressure sensor (MAP sensor) has dropped below the normal valid range, which typically points to a short circuit to a low source (ground), a disconnected line, or a completely failed sensor. This is a critical emissions and engine performance fault that will trigger an engine power loss (inducement) and SCR failure warnings.

   Inspect the wire harness for a shorted to low source condition or a disconnected line, looking for chafed wires or damaged pins at the sensor connector and the ECU

   Check for a faulty charging system or issues caused by an external power supply being connected, which can skew voltage readings

   Check for a faulty solenoid or a malfunctioning Central Control Unit (CCU) / Universal Control Module (UCM) that might be pulling the reference voltage down

   Inspect and Repair Wiring

   Locate the intake manifold pressure sensor (B-013) on the engine intake. Disconnect the 4-pin connector and inspect for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins. Repair any damaged wiring between the sensor and the ECU.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring harness tests good (proper reference voltage and ground are present, and the signal wire is not shorted), remove and replace the faulty intake manifold pressure sensor.

   Clear the Code and Reset Inducement

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and perform the 'Engine Restart Counter Reset / Unlock Inducement' configuration in the EST configure menu.

   Test Run

   Start the engine and verify that the intake manifold pressure reads accurately within the EST and that the code does not return.
