Case IH 3050 – VCM / ECM / Engine ECU: Battery voltage signal - BELOW NORMAL / Air Filter Pressure is too low

Official CNH lists indicate code 3050 translates to 'Battery voltage signal - BELOW NORMAL' (logged against VCM/ECM). However, the condition 'Air Filter Pressure is too low' is standardly logged under SPN 107 (logged against Engine ECU). The ECU detects that the air filter restriction switch is closed or the pressure differential sensor is reading out of physical range, indicating the engine cannot breathe properly.

   Check the physical condition of the air filter to see if it is heavily clogged, blocked, or dirty

   Inspect the air intake system for leaks or a clogged air pressure intake

   Check the air filter pressure sensor wiring for defects, short circuits to the battery/ground, or open circuits

   Test the operation by swapping the current air filter pressure sensor with a known working sensor to determine if the original sensor is defective

   Gain access to the airbox/filter housing

   Remove the necessary covers or retaining screws.

   Remove and inspect the air filter

   Clean the housing and replace the air filter if it is clogged or has reached its service limit.

   Replace the Air Filter Pressure Sensor / Vacuum Switch

   If diagnostic tests proved the sensor was defective, disconnect the wiring harness and replace the Air Filter Pressure Sensor / Vacuum Switch.

   Repair or replace damaged wiring

   Repair or replace any damaged wiring between the sensor and the Engine ECU.

   Clear stored fault codes

   Connect a diagnostic scanner (such as CNH EST or SERDIA) to the machine to clear the stored fault codes and verify the sensor is reading within the normal physical range.
