Case IH 3052 (DTC 2261) - ECU – Electronic Control Unit (ECU A-095): Battery voltage is lower than expected

The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) monitors the machine's battery voltage. If the ECU determines that the battery voltage has dropped below 10.2 Volts, this fault code is triggered. Possible Failure Modes: 1. Faulty battery, 2. Engine was cranked for an extended period of time (causing a temporary voltage drop), 3. Faulty ECU supply wiring.

   Verify Fault Status: Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check if the fault is currently active or if it was an intermittent historical code.

   Cranking History: Determine if the engine was recently cranked for an extended period, which can naturally draw the battery below the 10.2 V threshold.

   Parasitic Draw Test: Perform a parasitic draw test to measure if there is excessive current draw from the battery while the machine is turned off.

   Visual Inspection: Inspect the relevant harnesses and connectors (especially the ECU A-095 supply wiring) for damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires. Verify that all connectors are completely seated.

   Software Check: Check the ECU A-095 to ensure it has the appropriate software version installed.

   Resolve Parasitic Draw

   If an excessive draw is found during the parasitic draw test, trace the circuit to locate the source of the draw. Repair the short or faulty component as necessary, clear the codes, and return the machine to service.

   Repair Wiring

   If any damaged wiring, corroded terminals, or loose connections are found during the visual inspection of the ECU supply wiring, repair or replace the affected harness sections.

   Replace Battery

   Test the battery's ability to hold a charge. If the battery is faulty and cannot maintain a voltage above 10.2 V under standard load, replace it.

   Re-flash ECU

   If the battery and wiring are in good condition and the fault has not been resolved, re-flash the ECU A-095 with the appropriate software.
