Case IH 3062 – Engine Control Module (ECM): Injector solenoid valve Cylinder 1 - low source
Issue description
An electrical malfunction in the fuel injection system where the engine's control system has detected an improper voltage, a weak signal, or a short circuit (specifically on the power stage/low side) within the electrical circuit operating the fuel injector for Cylinder 1.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- Case IH Magnum Series
- Case IH Steiger Series
- Case IH Puma Series
- Case IH Maxxum Series
Check the cause
Visually inspect the engine wiring harness connecting the ECM to the Cylinder 1 fuel injector for chafing, melted insulation, or breaks.
Disconnect the Cylinder 1 injector harness and check the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage.
Use a multimeter to test the injector wiring for continuity back to the ECM, and check for a short circuit to ground or a short circuit to the battery (low voltage circuit).
Measure the resistance (ohms) across the terminals of the Cylinder 1 injector solenoid and compare this reading to the OEM specification or to a known-good injector on a neighboring cylinder.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Injector
Remove the engine valve cover or necessary shielding to access the Cylinder 1 fuel injector and its wiring harness.
Address Wiring
If diagnostic tests revealed a short or open circuit in the harness, repair the damaged section of the wiring or replace the injector harness assembly.
Replace Injector
If the wiring tested good but the injector solenoid failed the resistance test: Clean the area around the injector, disconnect the high-pressure fuel line and the injector hold-down clamp, and remove the faulty Cylinder 1 injector. Install the new OEM fuel injector, ensuring you replace the copper sealing washer and any associated O-rings. Reinstall the hold-down clamp and high-pressure fuel line, torquing all fittings to exact OEM specifications.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical harness to the injector and reinstall the valve cover/shielding.
Prime and Clear
Reconnect the battery. Prime/bleed the fuel system if required by the specific engine manual. Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear fault code 3062 from the ECM, then run the engine to verify the misfire/code does not return.
