Case IH 3071 (DTC 6626) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) A-095: Short circuit error of injector in cylinder 2

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) continuously investigates the hardware and power stages of the injectors. When the ECU evaluates the cylinder 2 injector (Y-062), it detects a short circuit pattern.

   Check for related injector short circuit codes on the same bank, such as 3063 (DTC 6226) for cylinder 1 or 3079 (DTC 6426) for cylinder 3.

   Check for bank failures, specifically fault 3210 (DTC 7116) (Injection bank 1 short circuit failure), as a single shorted injector can affect all injectors on the same bank.

   Test the engine wiring harness between ECU A-095 and the cylinder 2 injector for continuity and shorts to ground or power. Do not use a self-powered test light, as it can damage system components.

   Resolve Bank Faults First

   If multiple injector codes or the Bank 1 short circuit code (3210/DTC 7116) are present, resolve the common wiring fault first.

   Repair Wiring

   If a short circuit is indicated during the harness inspection, repair or replace the engine wire harness as required.

   Replace Injector

   If the wiring harness tests perfectly, the short circuit is internal to the cylinder 2 fuel injector. Remove the valve cover (if applicable to the engine model) and replace the cylinder 2 injector.

   Clear Codes

   After replacing the harness or injector, clear the ECU fault codes and run the engine to verify the repair. (Note: Common rail injectors may require coding/calibration to the ECU using the Case IH Electronic Service Tool).
