Case IH 3076 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC (Electronic Diesel Control): Cylinder 2 - Unclassifiable Error in Injector

The system has detected an anomaly in the fuel injector circuit for cylinder 2 that does not fit the standard parameters of a direct short to ground, short to battery, or open circuit.

   Check the wiring harness connecting the ECU to the cylinder 2 injector for physical damage, chafing, or short circuits caused by an external source.

   Check the injection signals coming from the ECU to ensure the module is sending the correct voltage/pulse.

   Test the cylinder 2 injector coil for internal defects or abnormal resistance values.

   Inspect and Repair Wiring

   If the wiring harness to cylinder 2 shows signs of a short circuit or damage, repair or replace the affected harness section.

   Replace the Injector

   If the wiring is intact and the signal is reaching the injector, but the injector coil is found to be defective (or the error persists), replace the Cylinder 2 fuel injector.

   Replace the ECU

   If the wiring is verified good, the injector is replaced, and the unclassified error still persists, the defect is likely an internal ECU hardware failure. The Engine Control Unit will need to be replaced and reprogrammed.
