Case IH 3094 – Engine Control Module (ECM): Physical Range high for Charged Air cooler down stream sensor
Issue description
Indicates an electrical fault where the raw signal voltage from the Charge Air Cooler Downstream Temperature Sensor is exceeding the maximum expected limit, pointing to an open circuit, a short circuit to a high voltage source, or a completely failed sensor.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the Charged Air Cooler Downstream Sensor for physical damage, melted wires, or severe corrosion.
Disconnect the sensor and use a multimeter to check the continuity of the signal wire and the ground wire back to the ECM harness to check for an open circuit.
With the key ON (engine off), probe the signal wire to ensure it is not shorted to a 12V or 5V power source within the harness.
Measure the internal resistance of the temperature sensor across its pins. If the multimeter reads 'OL' (Open Loop) or infinite resistance, the sensor has failed internally.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the Charged Air Cooler Downstream Sensor. It is typically mounted on the intake piping just after the charge air cooler (intercooler) or directly on the intake manifold.
Disconnect
Press the locking tab and carefully unplug the electrical connector from the sensor.
Remove the Sensor
Using an appropriately sized deep socket or wrench, unthread the sensor from the intake piping.
Install the New Sensor
Thread the new OEM sensor into the port by hand to prevent cross-threading, then tighten to the OEM torque specification (do not overtighten, as these are often brass or plastic-bodied sensors that can snap).
Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks and locks securely.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition to the ON position and use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or a compatible heavy-duty scanner to clear fault code 3094.
Test Run
Start the engine and monitor the live data for the Charge Air Temperature. Verify that the reading is plausible (usually close to ambient temperature on a cold start) and that the fault code does not return.
