Case IH 3105 (DTC F245) - ECU – Engine ECU (ECU A-095): Fuel pressure relief valve is forced to open, perform pressure increase.

The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) intentionally forces the fuel pressure relief valve open. This is a diagnostic and protective action taken by the ECU to either determine mechanical wear-out within the fuel injection system or to force the engine into "limp home mode." The ECU executes this in two steps: first, it waits for the fuel rail pressure to build up, and then it performs a pressure increase.

   Verify if any other error codes are displayed. If no other error codes are present, proceed to step 2.

   Check the tractor's battery power supply to ensure it has not been connected to an external power supply (e.g., a jump box or external charger).

   If an external power supply is connected to the tractor, disconnect it immediately.

   Test the system for normal operation. Also, verify that the machine's charging system and wiring harness are functioning correctly, as a faulty charging system can cause the ECU to trigger this code.

   Clear codes

   Clear the active fault codes and run the engine to see if the ECU forces the system back into limp home mode.

   Depressurize fuel system

   If the code returns, shut down the engine and allow the high-pressure fuel system to depressurize completely before opening the system.

   Locate the valve

   Locate the fuel pressure relief valve (also known as the pressure limiting valve) on the high-pressure fuel rail.

   Remove fuel lines

   Disconnect the fuel return line attached to the relief valve.

   Remove faulty valve

   Unscrew the faulty pressure relief valve from the fuel rail.

   Install new valve

   Thread the new OEM replacement valve into the fuel rail and torque it to the manufacturer's exact specifications (do not over-tighten, as this can damage the rail threads).

   Reassemble and test

   Reconnect the fuel return line, prime/bleed the fuel system if required, and start the engine. Verify that the rail pressure builds normally and the fault code does not return.
