Case IH 3106 (DTC 1145) - ECU – ECU A-095: Fuel pressure relief valve reached maximum allowed opening count
Issue description
The mechanical Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) is integrated into the high-pressure fuel rail and opens if excessive rail pressure occurs. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) senses the sudden reductions in rail pressure and keeps a running count. If this count exceeds 50 openings, the ECU triggers this fault code.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- Case IH 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines
- Case IH Puma series tractors
- Case IH Magnum series tractors (MX210, MX230, MX255, MX285)
Check the cause
Check the system for any other active fault codes (especially fuel system or pressure-related faults) and diagnose them first, as they may be the root cause of the overpressure condition.
Repair steps
Replace the Pressure Relief Valve
Replace the Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) on the fuel rail.
Connect the Electronic Service Tool
Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine.
Perform a PRV counter reset
Use the EST to perform a PRV counter reset (this clears the ECU's internal count of valve openings).
Verify operation
Return the machine to service and verify operation.
Check and re-flash ECU software
If the fault remains active after replacing the valve and resetting the counter, check ECU A-095 for the appropriate software version and re-flash the ECU if necessary.
